Before revolutionising the supplement industry, liposomes were a game-changer in pharmaceuticals. Originally developed in the 1960s, these tiny, fat-based delivery systems were used to enhance the effectiveness of drugs, antibiotics, and vaccines - helping medications reach their target cells more efficiently.

Now, this very same cutting-edge technology is what we use to increase the absorption of our products by up to 4x vs. regular supplements. Pictured to the right is a 3D render of a nutrient encapsulated in a liposome!

Up to 10x greater nutrient protection

To try and measure the amount of a supplement that gets destroyed in our digestive system, we teamed up with a university to conduct in vitro studies that simulated the acidic conditions of both the stomach and the intestines, and measured how nutrients such as Vitamin C and Glutathione held up over time. We then ran the same exact studies but with the nutrients shielded inside Zooki Liposomes.

Remarkably, over 10x less nutrients were destroyed by stomach acid after one hour when wrapped in a Zooki liposome.

The science - How Liposomes increase absorption

  • Step 1

    A lot of supplements are absorbed in the intestines through active transport- your body expends energy to absorb nutrients into the bloodstream through “protein channels” that are embedded in the one-cell thick gut wall.

  • Step 2

    The body doesn’t have enough of these protein channels in the gut wall to absorb the high concentrations of nutrients found in supplements, which leads to the majority of the nutrients in regular supplements passing straight through the body with out being absorbed

  • Step 3

    By encapsulating nutrients in liposomes, the nutrients can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream through M-cells in the gut lining, bypassing the need for the protein channels that get saturated and act as bottlenecks for nutrient absorption.

  • Step 4

    This results in more nutrients entering the bloodstream and reaching the cells where they’re needed, rather than passing straight through the intestines without being absorbed.

Up to 4x greater absorption

To see how much better nutrients are absorbed when wrapped in a Liposome, we worked with academics on clinical trials that tested the absorption of our Liposomal Vitamin C and Liposomal Glutathione compared to the nutrients in their raw form.

Both studies found a groundbreaking 4x more nutrients in the bloodstream over a 48 hour period when the nutrients were encapsulated inside Zooki Liposomes.
